This book covers two crucial matters: the believers'' personal contact with the Lord as branches abiding in the vine, and the vision and practice of the proper church life.

The first three chapters [of this book] give a general discussion of four great matters in the Bible: the economy of God, the dispensing of God, the union of God with His believers, and the corporate expression of God. The subsequent chapters go on to explain the profound truths and the experience of life related to these four great matters according to the book of Ephesians, the Gospel of John, and the Gospel of Matthew. Following this, the book proceeds to offer guidance to all those who have a heart to serve the Lord full time concerning the building up of themselves in the matters of life, truth, character, learning languages, knowing the church, living a healthy life, and managing personal finances as living witnesses of the Lord, so that they may become useful vessels in the Lord''s hands.

On the day of Pentecost Peter preached the gospel, the Spirit was outpoured, and close to three thousand souls were saved. These newly saved believers spontaneously began to meet together in their homes: "And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of their food with exultation and simplicity of heart" (Acts 2:46). In these home gatherings, all believers were able to function, and the early church flourished and spread (v. 47). In The Furtherance of the New Way for the Lord''s Recovery Witness Lee sounds a call for the church to return to this biblical pattern. Drawing on numerous examples from the Scriptures, he highlights the central role of the home in presenting the gospel to unbelievers and in building up new believers. Returning to the God-ordained way of bringing the gospel to unbelievers and teaching the truth to new believers in their homes will open the way for the building up of the Body of Christ.

The Lord wants the believers to have a living that is a mutual abiding in spirit: the believers abiding in the Lord and the Lord abiding in their spirit. Man has a human spirit for him to receive God as life, but the believers must be diligent to exercise their spirit to live by the Lord for the church life. In A Living of Mutual Abiding with the Lord, Witness Lee shows that living with the Lord in the way of mutuality is the central revelation of the Bible. For this the Lord Jesus went through a process: He became flesh, a man, to be our Redeemer; and He became the life-giving Spirit to be our Savior in life. The Lord first comes into us and then He abides in us. This mutual abiding is altogether in the one spirit. "He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit" (1 Cor. 6:17). Christ as the life-giving Spirit comes into our human spirit for us to be one mingled spirit, and this makes possible the living of the highest Christian life, a mutual abiding with the Lord.

The church should help the brothers and sisters in the way of visiting people to preach the gospel to save sinners, nourishing and taking care of the new believers, and teaching and perfecting them so that all can prophesy and speak for the Lord. When the church does this, sinners will be saved, believers will grow, saints will be perfected, and all will prophesy one by one. Then the church will be flourishing and the testimony will be strong.

To prophesy in the sense of 1 Corinthians 14 denotes to speak for God and Christ and to speak forth God and Christ. To speak forth God and Christ is to minister and dispense God and Christ to people. This book helps us to see the basic knowledge concerning prophesying, the patterns of prophesy, the basic constituents of a prophecy, and the obstacles to prophesying.

God''s New Testament economy is to build the church with Christ through the kingdom. The church is God''s goal, God''s desire and destination. His intention is to build the church. As we all know, in order to build anything we need certain material. The material for the building of the church is Christ. Along with the material, we also need the method of building. In Matthew 16 we see the goal, the material, and the method. The goal is the church, the material is Christ, and the method is the kingdom.

In the Lord’s recovery during the past five hundred years the church’s knowledge of the Lord and His truth has been continually progressing. This monumental and classical work by Brother Witness Lee builds upon and is a further development of all that the Lord has revealed to His church in the past centuries. He concludes with help as to how we can practice these four matters.

This book is intended as an aid to believers in developing a daily time of morning revival with the Lord in His word. At the same time, it provides a limited review of the International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones held in Anaheim, California on April 12-14, 2013. The general subject of the training was “The Experience, Growth, and Ministry of Life for the Body.” Through intimate contact with the Lord in His word, the believers can be constituted with life and truth and thereby equipped to prophesy in the meetings of the church unto the building up of the Body of Christ.

As Christians we should function to bear fruit through the preaching of the gospel. In this book Witness Lee provides practical help related to bearing fruit and strongly urges God''s people to live uniquely for the gospel for the sake of bearing remaining fruit.

This book is intended as an aid to believers in developing a daily time of morning revival with the Lord in His word. At the same time, it provides a limited review of the International Chinese-speaking Conference held in Anaheim, California, February 15-17, 2013. The subject of the conference was “The Recovery of Christ as Everything in the Church.” Through intimate contact with the Lord in His word, the believers can be constituted with life and truth and thereby equipped to prophesy in the meetings of the church unto the building up of the Body of Christ.

In 1927 Watchman Nee published his spiritual classic on Christian growth and progress, The Spiritual Man. In that book Nee presents the seemingly simple biblical truth that man is composed of three parts--spirit and soul and body--as a central and necessary revelation for believers to grow and make progress in their spiritual life. In The Economy of God, Nee''s closest and most trusted co-worker, Witness Lee, builds upon this foundation in order to unveil the central revelation of the Bible--that God wants to impart Himself into man for His full expression in the church. This is God''s plan, God''s economy. In The Economy of God, Lee clearly reveals the move of the Divine Trinity according to His economy and gives believers practical ways to cooperate with Him for the fulfillment of His eternal plan. Step by step, Witness Lee shows how to deal with obstacles to spiritual growth so that Christ may fully make His home in our hearts, that we may be filled unto all the fullness of God.

The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1960, volume 2, contains messages given and articles and personal notes written by Brother Witness Lee in April through December 1960. Historical information concerning Brother Lee''s travels and the content of his ministry in 1960 can be found in the general preface that appears at the beginning of volume 1 in this set. The contents of this volume are divided into ten sections, as follows: 1. Nine messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in April through August. Chapters 1 through 5 contain messages given in July and August, and chapters 8 and 9 contain messages given on April 1 and 2. The dates of the messages that constitute chapters 6 and 7 are unknown. All nine messages were previously published in a book entitled The Sufficiency, Pursuit, and Learning of the Lord''s Serving Ones and are included in this volume under the same title. 2. Four messages given in a training for young people in Taipei, Taiwan, in April. These messages are included in this volume under the title God''s Plan and Christ''s Redemption. 3. Three sets of personal notes written in 1960, probably beginning on April 26. These notes are included in this volume under the title Witness Lee''s Personal Notes. 4. Fifteen messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1960; the exact dates are unknown. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Elders'' Management of the Church and are included in this volume under the same title. 5. A message given in Taipei, Taiwan, probably after the messages contained in the previous section on the elders'' management of the church. This message is included in this volume under the title Concerning the Arrangement of Church Meetings. 6. A message given in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1960. This message was originally published in the periodical The Ministry of the Word in September. It is included in this volume under the title Balancing the Church Service and the Goals of the Church Service. 7. Five messages given in Taipei, Taiwan. These messages were originally published in the periodical The Ministry of the Word in October 1960 through January 1961. They were previously published in a book entitled The Law of Revival and are included in this volume under the same title. 8. Ten messages given in New York City on October 14 through November 20. These messages are included in this volume under the title The Nature and Building Up of the Church. 9. Four messages given in New York City on November 24 through 27. These messages are included in this volume under the title Practicing the Building Up of the Church on the Proper Ground. 10. A letter and two sets of questions and answers given in Los Angeles, California, on December 5 through 7. This section is included in this volume under the title Fellowship in Los Angeles concerning the Ground of the Church.

This book is intended as an aid to believers in developing a daily time of morning revival with the Lord in His word. At the same time, it provides a limited review of the Thanksgiving blending conference held in Dallas, Texas, on November 23-26, 2023. The general subject of the conference was “The Enjoyment of Christ and Our Growth in Life unto Maturity.” Through intimate contact with the Lord in His word, the believers can be constituted with life and truth and thereby equipped to prophesy in the meetings of the church unto the building up of the Body of Christ.

In this booklet compiled from Life-study of Romans, Witness Lee presents the contrast between Romans 8 and Romans 7. “In Romans 7 we see the bondage of the law in our flesh, and in Romans 8 we see the freedom of the Spirit in our spirit. As we come to chapter eight, we turn from bondage in the flesh to freedom in the Spirit.”
