release date: Mar 25, 2026
Divergent
In the high-stakes world of corporate tech, reclusive genius Mark Stanford—neurodivergent and guarded against emotional ties—pitches a groundbreaking guest app to a skeptical hospitality giant. After winning the development contract, he hires an exceptionally perceptive executive assistant whose quiet efficiency and anticipation of Mark’s needs prove invaluable—especially protecting him from distractions and sensory overload. As long days and high pressure draw them closer, buried secrets and unspoken struggles surface, forcing Mark to confront feelings he never expected. What begins as a professional alliance ignites profound questions of identity, acceptance, and faith—challenging Mark emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. Divergent, the first in the Intersections Romance series, is an uplifting Christian romance exploring redemption through unconventional paths, where divergent lives find unexpected wholeness in each other.

The Comedy of Ethics

release date: Jul 18, 2025
The Comedy of Ethics
This book is arranged as a six-day Socratic dialogue in play form. It is a humorous explanation of ethical theory and covers all the main ones but in a lucid, uncomplicated way, using plenty of realistic examples. Amongst the theoreticians included are Aristotle, Plato, Aquinas, Kant, Spinoza, Hume, Mill, Moore, Sartre. The content is as follows: • Day 1: the process of good – good defined in a new way as a process of purposeful thoughts or intentions, perceptions, behaviours, emotions, and outcomes • Day 2: parts of the process – each of the parts above explained • Day 3: what is good – ie norms of good; summa bonum and bona as seen by philosophers and by ordinary people • Day 4: morality – social ethics; definitions of ‘ought’, ‘moral imperative’, ‘right and wrong’, ‘obligation’, and ‘duty’; particular examination of Kant’s ideas vis-à-vis our normal behaviour • Day 5: justice – starting from Plato’s Republic, justice as quid pro quo, types of justice, nature of moral responsibility • Day 6: beauty – new definition of beauty and examples of how this works. The book contains original ideas on what good, beauty, morality, virtue, and justice are and original critiques of other theories. Humour and philosophy is a rare duet; humour and ethics even rarer.

Allied Coastal Forces of World War II.

release date: Jan 01, 2019
Allied Coastal Forces of World War II.
The major contribution made by Coastal Forces to the Allied war effort has had surprisingly little coverage in the literature of the Second World War. Motor torpedo boats, PT boats, motor gunboats, launches and submarine chasers served with distinction throughout the war, and in every theatre. They performed invaluable service as patrol boats, convoy escorts, minelayers and minesweepers, harbour defence vessels, light landing craft, RAF rescue boats and transports for agents and clandestine missions. Allied Coastal Forces, now a recognised classic work and first published in 1990, remains the only publication to deal comprehensively - in words, photographs and drawings - with the technical detail of all these boats. Design, construction and subsequent development are all covered, and the builders, construction lists, fates and the technical data are given for each type. Separate sections cover armament and equipment, sea-going qualities and habitability. This second volume covers sixteen Vosper MTB designs and the US 70ft, 77ft and 80ft ELCO designs. US-built Vosper designs supplied under lease-lend are also covered, while weapons systems and machinery are dealt with in detail. Some 700 finely detailed drawings were drawn by the authors for this second volume in their highly acclaimed two-volume work. AUTHORS: John Lambert spent nine years in the Royal Navy where he acquired his detailed technical knowledge of warships. His subsequent research on small warships and naval weaponry, combined with his remarkable technical drawing skills, led to the creation of a body of work some of which is displayed in this volume. He died in 2015. Al Ross II is the author of several books on small warships and since the 1980s has been producing a series of plans for modellers of small combatants of the Second World War and Vietnam eras. He lives in Bangor, Maine, USA. 150 b/w photographs, 700 line drawings, 12 colour camouflage schemes

British Naval Weapons of the Second World War

release date: Oct 01, 2012
British Naval Weapons of the Second World War
This portfolio of plans and photos is intended to provide visual reference to all those weapons whose workings are open to view – omitting those in closed turrets but including shielded and open gun mounts, torpedo tubes and anti-submarine weapons carried on deck. This will be of value principally to modelmakers seeking detail and accuracy but for enthusiasts and historians it also provides a convenient single-volume compendium of weapons data and an aid to identification. Within these parameters, its coverage is comprehensive, with each weapon accorded both multi-view scale plans and photographs, often backed with a description and tabular dimensions and performance details. With a few exceptions for which no information survives, all main armament for destroyer-size ships and downwards is included, along with open mounts and AA guns carried by larger ships. Significant differences in mountings are treated to separate drawings, and for completeness the book also includes significant older weapons brought out of storage and fitted to a host of small and auxiliary ships. In total nearly a hundred separate subjects are included, illustrated with 200 photos and around 1000 individual drawings, reflecting the amazing variety of weapons employed by the Royal Navy during the Second World War.

Medicinal Plants
The complex and important relationship between public expenditure and economic performance has been the subject of numerous econometric studies. But the studies remain inconclusivesome results have shown positive relationships, while others are negative. Thus there is no conventional wisdom backed by statistical evidence on this relationship, nor is there any sort of clear theoretical underpinning that explains how the aggregate of government spending acts on the growth of total output. This book studies the role of public expenditures in a noneconometric way by examining a number of specific instances of these expenditures and their direct effect on economic performance. Specifically, the authors presents scenarios from Botswana, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, and Zambia and ask a series of questions to identify and illuminate the impact of these instances of public expenditure on a number of variables that help measure economic performance. These examples are then used to make generalizations about the relationship between public spending and economic performance.
